據中評社台北10月5日消息：黨政權威高層今天（10月5日）傍晚透露，中國國民黨2016選舉參選人洪秀柱從7月19日通過全代會提名至今民調遲遲未見起色，黨籍“立委”參選人集體揚言退選，前主席連戰、吳伯雄等高度憂心選情。黨中央已決定“換柱”改推黨主席朱立倫披戰袍，迎戰民進黨主席蔡英文。朱立倫本人已點頭同意。

根據權威人士表示，黨主席朱立倫日前與洪秀柱兩度親自懇談後，黨中央決定“換柱”改推朱立倫，洪尚未同意。若洪不願自行宣布退選，將由中常委江碩平10月7日在中常會提出臨時動議要求召開臨時全代會，於10月中下旬召開臨全會通過廢止提名洪後，改徵召朱立倫代表國民黨參選。
