The Chinese brand’s electric SUV is half the price of a Tesla. So NIO EVs are very competitive in Chinese market. With the latest Chinese government’s New Energy Bill released in April, 2020, NIO turns out to be the most beneficiary of this policy – it specifically gives preferential treatments to EV makers with ‘Battery Swap’ model. So far NIO is the only EV maker that adopts this model. The great advantage for this model is EV owners can have the battery swapped in 5 minutes while other EV owners would take hours to get their cars charged up.
So far NIO has over 156 ‘Battery Swap’ stations across China.
